Throwing My Hat in the Ring
On art residencies and first sales calls
I applied for an art residency last weekend. It’s the first time I’ve ever applied for one. It was actually kind of fun and refreshingly validating. I have this hodgepodge of creative endeavors from yesteryear that were fun to put into a work sample packet. It was a reminder that even though some things didn’t scale the way I wanted them to, they’re all still experience. They’re all still an idea that I made manifest. They’re all a part of my portfolio.
The application process is pretty competitive, so I threw my hat in the ring with tempered expectations. But if you know anything about me, it’s that I walk the tightrope between delulu and insane confidence.
