This started as a living doc I shared with friends traveling to Puerto Vallarta since I moved back to NYC in June 2022. It will henceforth be a living article by way of the comments that people would like to leave and the occasional updates that I will make after going back to visit.

A sunlit beach in Puerto Vallarta with a clear blue sky. Tomik Dash, seen from the back, stands close to the camera, wearing a chain-thong swimsuit, gazing at the sea. The shoreline features people enjoying the water and lounging under umbrellas. In the background, city buildings and a distinctive bridge rise against a backdrop of distant mountains. The sand bears the handwritten title 'Beyond the Brochures: The Unfiltered Gay Guide to Puerto Vallarta'.

I had the experience of living in Puerto Vallarta for ten months, from August 2021 - June 2022, and over my time there, I developed a keen lay of the land that allowed me to put together this guide. Here, you will find my suggestions partially derived from the faqs of the many friends who came to stay with me during my time in one of Mexico’s most popular gay getaway destinations. The answer to the most frequently asked question I want to get out of the way is…

YES YOU CAN DOUCHE WITH WATER IN PUERTO VALLARTA!

It’s one of the few places in Mexico where it’s safe. But if you have a bougie coochie or are worried about your sensitive stomach, pack these (not sponsored, but if you leave a review, mention The Atomik Factory).

As you can see, this will be different from your typical guide to Puerto Vallarta. You’re about to get the full tea on nightlife, hookups, sourcing of extracurriculars 🐴, and the essential things you need to know like transportation, where to see shows, best places to eat, and safety tips.

If you’re not subscribed to this Substack and have a trip to PV on your calendar, the money you spend to subscribe here will be your shortcut to an inside scoop that will save you a lot of time, money, and guesswork. So let’s get started!
