It’s October 3rd

Zara owes me a video, Tom Cruise owes me nothing, and I have news.

Scene from Mean Girls: a girl leans across a classroom desk toward a boy. Subtitle reads, "It's October 3rd."

I can’t believe it’s October and we still don’t have a new music video from Zara Larsson. This was supposed to be her summer! I’m so mad at her. But the Blue Moon video is on the way, so I’ll get over it. She really needs to call me. I’ve already drafted her 10-year plan.

Speaking of plans. One of my favorite podcasts, My First Million, put out an episode two years ago that I've kept bookmarked ever since. They walk through something they call a Laser Focus, a framework for breaking down everything you need to hit a business goal. With 2027 around the corner, I figured I'd get a jump start.

It’s built for one business, one project. I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m not that girl. I’m always juggling shit. So I hood-rigged mine to fit the reality of my life. If you make a Laser Focus for 2027, let me know how it goes.

In other news, I saw Digger today, and I thought it was amazing. The trailers didn’t give me much besides intrigue, so I went in mostly blind, and I’m so glad I did. The movie has a surprise I really had to sit with in real time, and knowing it ahead would have taken something away. There are no bad performances in this movie. Only good and excellent. Tom Cruise put his whole entire foot into this one. He deserves a nomination.

My hand holding an IMAX card for Digger, starring Tom Cruise: a man in a cowboy hat faces a packed, domed hall.

When I left the theater, I looked up the reviews and was surprised by how mixed they were. I’m not easily entertained, so when I tell you to go see something, I mean it. Go see it, y’all, and tell me what you think.

Also, follow me on Letterboxd! I’m still new there. I only review movies I’ve just watched. That way my take is fresh, and there’s less pressure to build some big archive.

What else has been going on? Well, I got some excellent news!
